Long answer

Rose water has been used for centuries and although its exact timeline is unknown, we do know that its benefits were discovered long before rose oil. Today rose water is made by boiling rose petals in water for hours and distilling the condensation of this process. Many people also make their own at home by just soaking rose petals in water and while it’s not exactly the same, the homemade water can still heal your body.

The list of health benefits from using rose water is a long one. A great deal of research has been performed to verify its medicinal properties with findings supporting its ancient uses. These uses include treating the skin, heart, liver, gastrointestinal and respiratory systems, gynecological problems, joint pain, infections and skin wounds. Bruises, appetite, and emotional health can also be improved.

It has anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and antiseptic properties making it understandable for its use in just about any ailment. Rose water can be used in a variety of methods to achieve these health benefits as well.

The aroma of rose water alone can help heal your mind and improve your emotional state. It can alleviate depression and help people better cope with feelings of loss, grief, and fear. Many people place a drop on their skin or just leave a bowl of it out in the house to infuse the air.

Drinking rose water as a tea can heal a sore throat, and relieve tension, indigestion, and diarrhea. If you make this tea with your own rose petals, choosing flowers close to producing seeds will also give high levels of vitamins A, B3, C, D, and E, along with citric acid, bioflavonoids, zinc, and tannins. No wonder there are so many health benefits!

Rose water can also be used as skin cleanser along with rose oil. This combination reduces skin inflammation, moisturizes the skin preventing the formation of wrinkles and balances your skin’s pH. Its antiseptic and anti-bacterial properties also make it great for healing wounds and cuts on the skin quickly.

Rose water is used in traditional Persian, Indian and Pakistan food dishes for flavoring and aroma. Not to mention if infuses foods like rice with all those vitamins!

Many people do have allergies to flowers and roses specifically, and those people may want to steer clear.
